A Day of Family, Hoops, and Community — BallSkill.com’s First Event

This past Saturday marked a big milestone for BallSkill — our very first basketball event, hosted at the Randallstown Community Center gym from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It was a day filled with family, friendly competition, and a lot of learning about what it takes to run a successful basketball event.

Setting the Stage

Because this was our first time hosting, we were building everything from scratch. We created an Eventbrite ticketing system for registrations, set up a Square terminal to accept payments for event fees, food, and donations, and even launched our new BallSkill.com website with full e-commerce and tracking features. We also set up a dedicated business email for a more professional connection with the community.

The preparation included booking the entire gym, stocking up on food and water, and renting a vehicle to transport tables, basketballs, folding chairs, and other supplies. Guests even pitched in by bringing their own snacks and drinks — a great example of the community spirit we’re building.

On the Court: 1-on-1 Showdowns

The teenagers in attendance brought the heat with a series of 1-on-1 games to 7 points each. The most talked-about battles were between Diamond, Juleus, and Caden:

  • Juleus vs. Diamond – Early on, Juleus took a commanding win, but Diamond closed the gap later, losing a nail-biter 7–6.

  • Juleus vs. Caden – Split results: Caden took the first 7–6, Juleus came back strong 7–3 in the rematch.

  • Caden vs. Diamond – Details still to come… stay tuned!

Adults Step In: 3-on-3 Action

When the adults joined, the competition stepped up another level. Teams were:
Marcus, Caden, and Diamond vs. Kai, Roddy, and Juleus.

Diamond stole the show in Game 1, lighting it up from beyond the arc. Marcus fed her perfect passes, and each one seemed to end with the same result: BOOM — another three-pointer! Her hot hand led her team to a convincing win and earned her MVP honors for the game. Games were to 11 points (2-point shots = 1 point, 3-point shots = 2 points).

More matchups followed, with Kasani joining later and helping secure a huge 3-on-3 win for his squad.

Off the Court

Beyond the games, we swapped stories, shared laughs, and strengthened friendships. Everyone walked away with memories, lessons, and a sense of what BallSkill events can grow into.

Looking Ahead

We’re calling our first event a success — not because it was perfect, but because it brought people together and gave us a clear vision for the future. Our next event at the Randallstown Community Center will be even more prepared, more organized, and even more fun.

Thank you to all the families, friends, and players who supported us, offered advice, and helped make our first BallSkill event possible. This is just the beginning.
